Capcom’s Resident Evil series has been widely acclaimed for its impressive remakes, with notable successes like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4 Remake. Now, fans are speculating whether Capcom has plans for a remake of Resident Evil Code Veronica, and the developer’s response has left room for hope.

During a recent general shareholder meeting Q&A, Capcom was asked about the possibility of providing high-end visual remakes for spin-off games in the Resident Evil franchise. In response, Capcom stated, We are carrying out discussions regarding the future expansion of the series so it can be enjoyed by a wide audience.

While this response may not provide a definitive answer, it doesn’t rule out the possibility of a remake for spin-off games like Code Veronica. Fans of the 2000 Dreamcast release, which follows Claire Redfield’s journey a few months after the events of Resident Evil 2, have long been hoping for a fully-fledged remake of the game. Although a high-definition remaster was released a decade later, a remake with modern graphics and gameplay would be a dream come true for many.

Code Veronica is considered one of the standout titles in the Resident Evil series and a beloved entry by fans. Its age and outdated visuals could benefit from a remake that brings it up to par with recent installments. However, it’s important to note that Capcom’s response does not guarantee a Code Veronica remake for the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X/S. The possibility remains open, and fans can only hope for an official announcement in the future.

While fans eagerly await news of a Code Veronica remake, speculation continues regarding which other titles in the Resident Evil series could receive the remake treatment. With the success of recent remakes, the potential for revisiting iconic games like Resident Evil 3 or revisiting the Revelations spin-off series is certainly enticing. As Capcom explores the future expansion of the series, players can anticipate exciting developments that cater to a wider audience.
