US entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy confirms suspending presidential campaign

US Republican presidential primary candidate Vivek Ramaswamy confirmed on Monday he was dropping out of the presidential race and endorsed former President Donald Trump following the Iowa caucus vote. The Iowa caucuses kicked off the 2024 US presidential primary season, featuring Trump, Ramaswamy, former US ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis from the Republican party.

Ramaswamy made the announcement at his Des Moines headquarters, stating, We are going to suspend this presidential campaign and this is going to have to be, there is no path for me to be the next president. He secured seven percent of the votes, while Trump maintained the lead with 51 percent.

I congratulate him on his victory, and now going forward, you will have my full endorsement for the presidency, Ramaswamy added, officially endorsing Trump for the Republican nomination.

When asked about the possibility of being Trump’s vice-president if he wins, Ramaswamy responded that he would do whatever is right for the country.

To secure the Republican nomination, a candidate needs to win the votes of 1,215 delegates.

In suspending his campaign, Ramaswamy acknowledged the significant lead Trump had in the Iowa votes. His decision to endorse Trump reflects the desire for party unity as the primary season unfolds, with candidates vying for their party’s nomination.

The Republican primary field includes prominent figures such as Trump, a highly influential figure within the party, and potential contenders like Nikki Haley and Ron DeSantis. This race will shape the future of the Republican party and its vision for the presidency.

As the news of Ramaswamy’s withdrawal and endorsement broke, political observers are now closely following the dynamics between the Republican candidates. The Iowa caucuses mark a significant moment in the primary season, setting the tone for the road ahead.

While Ramaswamy’s campaign may have ended, his endorsement of Trump adds to the growing support for the former president. Trump’s popularity among the party’s base remains strong, and his ability to secure major endorsements is a testament to his continued influence on the Republican party.

As the Republican primary season unfolds, all eyes will be on the remaining candidates as they compete for the nomination. With Ramaswamy’s exit and endorsement, Trump’s position as the frontrunner becomes even more solidified.

The outcome of the Iowa caucuses is just the beginning of what promises to be a fierce battle for the Republican nomination. With the support of candidates like Ramaswamy, Trump’s campaign is poised to navigate the primary season with confidence and determination.

As the race for the Republican nomination progresses, voters will eagerly follow the candidates’ policy positions, campaign strategies, and ability to resonate with the electorate. Ultimately, it will be the Republicans who decide which candidate will represent them in the upcoming presidential election.

In this critical juncture of US politics, the choices made by candidates and their endorsements can significantly impact the trajectory of the race. The decision by Vivek Ramaswamy to suspend his campaign and endorse Donald Trump undoubtedly adds another layer of intrigue to the unfolding Republican primary season.
