Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene is facing backlash for suggesting that former President Donald Trump should not be targeted by Fulton County district attorney Fani Willis. Greene made these comments during an interview on NewsMax’s Robb Schmitt Tonight on Tuesday, following the charges filed against Trump and his allies for allegedly attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia. Greene emphasized that Willis should prioritize going after murderers, rapists, and car thieves instead.

However, social media quickly responded to Greene’s remarks, with many insinuating that Willis is on the right path by targeting Trump. One user on social media wrote, Marjorie Taylor Greene just stated that Fani Willis shouldn’t pursue Trump, she should be ‘going after rapists’. Whelp, have I got news for you, MTG.

This controversy arises in the context of E. Jean Carroll’s accusation that Trump raped her in a New York department store in the mid-’90s. Earlier this year, a grand jury found Trump liable for sexually abusing and defaming Carroll. Trump was ordered to pay $5 million in damages. More recently, a federal judge blocked Trump’s counter lawsuit against Carroll after she publicly implied that he raped her during a televised interview. The judge stated that her statement was substantially true and denied Trump’s request for a new trial.

The comments made by Rep. Greene have sparked a debate about prioritizing cases and the role of the district attorney. While some agree with her stance, others believe that Trump should be held accountable for his alleged actions. As the discussion continues online, it remains to be seen how this controversy will unfold and whether it will affect the ongoing legal proceedings against the former president.

Overall, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s suggestion that Fani Willis should not target former President Donald Trump has faced significant backlash on social media. The controversy raises important questions about the prioritization of cases and the pursuit of justice.
