Renowned Pastor Ashimolowo Holds Unique Crusade in Lagos, Distributing Relief Materials
In a remarkable display of compassion and generosity, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, the founder and senior pastor of Kingsway International Christian Centre, organized a first-of-its-kind crusade in Lagos, specifically in the Igbogbo area of Ikorodu. The purpose of this groundbreaking event was to distribute relief materials to the locals in need.
Last week, Pastor Ashimolowo revealed his plans to host the groundbreaking crusade, which he aptly named ‘Christ Compassion for Rural World’ (CCRW). He shared his intention to distribute essential relief supplies such as foodstuffs, clothing, books, and other necessities to the people of Ikorodu.
On Tuesday, his promises became a reality, as Pastor Ashimolowo and his team distributed a wide range of relief materials to multitudes of people. The distribution took place at the Igbogbo Stadium in Ikorodu, where the locals eagerly gathered to receive the much-needed support.
The relief materials, stored in a warehouse, included an impressive amount of clothing, with 75,000 pieces and 15,000 Ankara garments. Additionally, there were 201,000 cartons of Minimie Noodles, 50,000 packs of rice, beans, and garri, as well as 10,000 sachets of salt and sugar. Furthermore, the materials also featured 30,000 bars of soap and 24,000 notebooks for children, among other essentials.
On the first day of distribution, Pastor Ashimolowo and his team provided relief supplies to 3,000 households in Igbogbo, Ikorodu. This distribution effort will continue throughout the week-long crusade, ensuring that as many people as possible receive the support they need.
The crusade goes beyond material assistance, as it also includes various activities aimed at uplifting the community. These activities encompass surgical operations, evening crusades, pastor’s empowerment seminars and conferences, and a comprehensive medical outreach.
As part of the crusade’s medical outreach, a temporary surgical facility was established at the General Hospital Ikorodu, where 300 surgeries were scheduled. Skilled surgeons volunteered their services to perform operations on hernias, as well as remove lumps from different parts of the body and face.
Speaking about the surgical operations, Dr. Olalekan Ajayi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to provide medical services to the less privileged individuals in Ikorodu. Many of these patients have been unable to afford necessary treatments, and this crusade offers them a chance to finally address their health concerns.
Aside from the distribution of relief materials and surgical operations, the crusade features impactful evening gatherings. The Ikorodu Stadium has been filled with enthusiastic attendees, including religious leaders and dignitaries such as the Oba of Ikorodu Kingdom, the Adeboruwa of Igbogbo, and the chairman of Igbogbo/ Bayeku Local Government Development Area.
Renowned clerics like Mensa Otabil, Poju Oyemade, Jerry Eze, Festus Adeyeye, and Steve Mensah have graced the crusade, while talented gospel artists such as Nathaniel Bassey, Tope Alabi, and Bee Jay Sax have delivered inspiring performances.
Pastor Ashimolowo expressed his astonishment at the overwhelming response to the CCRW initiative. The first day of the crusade surpassed all expectations, with 3,000 households receiving relief materials and 2,000 individuals dedicating their lives to Christ.
He marveled at the powerful atmosphere during the opening night, highlighting the unwavering faith of the people, even in the midst of heavy rain. The success of the crusade has attracted attendees from different parts of the world, including France and the Ivory Coast.
Pastor Ashimolowo emphasized the joy of being able to touch Nigeria through the compassion of Christ. The ongoing crusade continues to uplift the community in Igbogbo, Ikorodu, with its comprehensive outreach efforts and the message of love and hope.
