Anti-renewable interests damaging our native species habitat
Anti-renewable interests must be delighted at the news that developments of wind and solar farms are being pushed into endangered native species habitats because of resistance to transmission lines on private property. Are these people really so sincere in their beliefs that they would have the rest of us suffer the consequences of them?
Massive wind and solar farms linked by new transmission lines are being pushed in native species habitat as we head towards a net-zero world. The vast majority of energy is consumed in cities, yet 70 per cent of Australian rooftops don’t have solar yet. Make energy where it is used. Do this by providing access to green funds for citizens to install solar and to electrify their households. This would limit the need to impact rural communities and speed up the transition to net-zero with people power.
Can we just accept that local opposition to new transmission lines will thwart our transition to renewables and look at an alternative which is achievable without environmental impacts – let’s go underground. I’ve heard politicians in the past saying it is too expensive but that is rubbish when you compare it with the cost of not transitioning to renewables. Just get on with it.
Why not provide free rooftop panels to households to form solar hubs in city and regional areas to save habitats and to stop annoying farmers? Could degraded farmland for turbines be another option?
The conservative ideology that Parnell Palme McGuinness truly represents is the ultimate example of her very own definition of cancel culture. The conservative minority in this country would, if allowed, restrict or remove any possibility that a progressive idea might change society for the better.
Their dogma would have only the wealthy and self-sufficient be able to access affordable education, health, housing and services. The vitriol and intensity of criticism of any progressive idea (such as the Voice or the new governor-general) clearly demonstrate the hypocrisy of their hysteria about cancel culture. If McGuinness and her ilk had their ways all forward-looking or enlightened ideas would be removed from our thoughts, thus achieving the ultimate in cancellation.
