Artificial intelligence (AI) technology should be regulated to ensure its effective adoption and impact, according to Rajan Mittal, Vice Chairman of Bharti Enterprises. Speaking at the Times Network India Economic Conclave 2023, Mittal and Vianai founder and CEO Vishal Sikka both agreed that education around AI use should take place at the same time as regulation to build responsible and trustworthy technology. Sikka maintained that people need to understand AI and be able to build it to ensure its positive impact. Both also discussed the potential for AI to enhance productivity, as well as its potential impact on job losses. Mittal highlighted the importance of 5G in India in helping with digital adoption and bridging the rural-urban divide.
