Heavy rains have lashed many parts of Madhya Pradesh, with Niwari recording 19 cm rainfall and Orchha recording 15cm in the last 24 hours. Prithavipur received 11cm rainfall, and Mhow received 7cm during this period. The meteorological department has issued a yellow alert for heavy rain and thunderstorms with powerful wind for Sagar division, and districts like Guna, Ashok Nagar, Datia, Bhind, Vidisha, Raisen, and Harda.
Moderate rain is expected in Bhopal, Chambal, Gwalior, Indore, Ujjain, Jabalpur, Narmadapuram, Shahdol, and Rewa divisions. According to the meteorological department, Biparjoy, present as a low-pressure area, is gradually weakening but still causing rain in some regions. Currently, the system is a clearly marked circulation over parts of Uttar Pradesh and adjoining Madhya Pradesh.
The state is expected to experience more rainfall for the next two to three days. The system will shift from west to east, gradually weakening but still visible in terms of weather activity. Eventually, the system will merge with the low pressure coming up from the Bay of Bengal side. A week-long activity is expected over Madhya Pradesh as the other system will give rains over the state.
The heavy rainfall has been caused by the remnants of a low-pressure system, which is now dissipating. The meteorological department has advised caution and has issued warnings to the public to be prepared for the next few days. Officials are closely monitoring the situation, and residents are advised to take necessary precautions to stay safe.
