Former Indian cricketer Venkatesh Prasad praised Ravichandran Ashwin for his recent interview, describing him as a champion both on and off the field. The comment came after India left Ashwin out of their playing XI in the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia, a decision which has been subjected to a lot of questioning. The team instead opted for two pacers and two all-rounders, including Ravindra Jadeja, who performed well in the third innings, and Nathan Lyon, who picked up four wickets in the last innings. Ashwin, who is currently ranked the world’s number one bowler in tests according to the ICC rankings, expressed his disappointment at not being part of the final. He explained how he had performed well in overseas conditions in the last few years, but it was hard for him to provide a definitive answer as to why he wasn’t picked for the final. Ashwin is currently playing in the Tamil Nadu Premier League for the Dindigul Dragons.
