Rapper Polo G Arrested in California for Robbery and Weapon Possession
Prominent rapper Polo G, whose real name is Taurus Bartlett, has been taken into custody in California following an alleged incident involving his younger brother, Trench Baby. The Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson stated that on Wednesday, August 24, four individuals suspected of robbery were apprehended at a residence in Chatsworth, California, which is listed as Polo G’s current address.
Initially, law enforcement officers had arrived at the property armed with a search warrant for the purpose of apprehending Trench Baby on robbery charges. However, during the search, the police discovered firearms within the premises, leading to the additional charge of possession of a short-barrel rifle against Polo G, a Chicago native.
The Burbank Police Department representative has informed Pitchfork that both Polo G and Trench Baby were arrested and charged with robbery, assault with a deadly weapon, and kidnapping. These charges stem from an incident that was reported in April. TMZ has reported that Polo G’s arrest was also motivated by police officers’ intent to determine if he had harbored a fugitive.
Both rappers were subsequently released on bail set at $100,000 (£79,497) and have been scheduled to appear in court on October 26. Presently, the charges are pending review at the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Bradford M. Cohen, Polo G’s attorney, has commented on the situation, making statements to various media outlets. He asserts that Polo G is being unjustly held in order for the police department to verify that he is not a convicted felon. Cohen asserts that Polo G was never convicted of any felonies and that any previous charges have been dismissed and are a matter of public record. Cohen states that he and his partner have been denied access to their client during his detention, which they deem illegal and unethical.
Regarding the charges against Polo G, Cohen suggests that they are unusual, considering the timing and the police’s purported knowledge. He points out the significant gap between the alleged incident and the arrest, raising suspicions about the case’s legitimacy. Cohen expresses confidence that once all facts come to light, a different picture will emerge, shedding doubt on the charges as they stand. He emphasizes their intention to challenge the accusations and seek vindication for their client.
In concluding the statement, Cohen clarifies that the incident in question involved an individual staying at Polo G’s residence, rather than the rapper himself. He contends that Polo G is widely known not to be a convicted felon, and he personally had all his charges in Miami dismissed when he believed his arrest was unwarranted. The denial of access to Polo G is deemed illegal and unethical, and Cohen asserts that those responsible will need to account for their wrongful actions.
