Filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma, popularly known as RGV, has completed 30% shooting of his upcoming film ‘Vyooham’, which is based on the life of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S Jagan Mohan Reddy. The filmmaker recently met the Chief Minister at his official residence to discuss the project, which reportedly delves into both the personal and political life of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) leader. ‘Vyooham’ captures the emotional bond between Jagan Mohan Reddy and his father, former United Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy (YSR), as well as the tumultuous event that followed the tragic death of YSR in a helicopter crash in 2009.
RGV has cast young actor Ajmal Ameer to play the role of Jagan Mohan Reddy, while Manasa Radhakrishnan plays his wife, Bharati. The controversial filmmaker is known for his unconventional and bold filmmaking style and has made biopics about several real-life events, including ‘Raktacharitra’ and ‘Vangaveeti’. He is a big supporter of Jagan Mohan Reddy and often shares his views on social media praising the Chief Minister while targeting his political rival, Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The upcoming movie ‘Vyooham’ is expected to be released ahead of the 2024 elections, providing a potential boost to YSRCP’s poll campaign. RGV has even roped in an actor to play Chandrababu Naidu’s character in the film and has already shared a few pictures depicting the character. The director’s last political venture was ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’, which focused on the love story between actor-politician NT Rama Rao and his biographer Lakshmi Parvathi. The movie also highlighted the backstabbing of NTR by his son-in-law, Chandrababu Naidu.
