Rajasthan’s Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has declared that the state is breaking new ground in agriculture. Rajasthan ranks number one in millet, oilseed and pulse production, as well as in milk and wool production. Alongside traditional farming, the state is encouraging modern farming methods to boost production and quality. The government is providing training through divisional level Kisan Mahotsav events to inform farmers of new techniques. Rajasthan is ranked second in the country for economic development, aided by 10 schemes for inflation relief. The state is also promoting agriculture education by opening new colleges. To support farmers, Rajasthan provides free electricity and agricultural produce markets with good prices. As well as being the only state in India where assistance is provided to farmers when a cow dies from lumpy disease, they are given benefits of different schemes with an amount of Rs 42,000 crore. Health is also a priority for the government; it enacted a law giving every person in the state responsibility for their health.
