The Rajasthan High Court has taken suo motu cognizance of the increasing number of suicides among students in coaching institutes, particularly in Kota and Sikar districts. To address the situation, the court has asked Attorney General, Nyaya Mitra, and the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights to provide suggestions on the development of an effective psychological counselling system. Senior advocate Sudhir Gupta has also been invited to contribute his expertise. The court will hear the case on July 20. The court recognized that some regulatory mechanisms have already been established by the state government, but suggested that more effective psychological counselling might be possible with support from organizations like the Mental Health Foundation.
