Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has defended his government’s recent schemes by stating that they are not designed for electoral benefits, but rather are permanent guarantees for the people. Gehlot’s response came after Prime Minister Narendra Modi questioned Congress’s guarantee formula for state elections, alleging that it would lead to bankruptcies.
Gehlot announced free electricity up to 100 units a month for all sectors of society, which will come into effect from Thursday and run until the next assembly elections later this year. He tweeted that the scheme was inspired by feedback from the public and observing inflation relief camps.
Gehlot also criticised Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, one of the key suspects in a case involving the Sanjeevani Society scam, for taking anticipatory bail from the high court rather than proving his innocence.
