Rajasthan Chief Minister, Ashok Gehlot criticized the Indian government for their lack of concern towards the plight of women wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief, Brij Bhushan Singh. Gehlot expressed his disapproval while attending a public event at Pali in Rajasthan. He said that despite an FIR being registered on the Supreme Court’s directions, it does not look like the government is bothered about the issue. Gehlot added that in the state of Rajasthan, it is mandatory to file an FIR in case of allegations of sexual harassment or abuse. Rakesh Tikait, the Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU) national spokesperson, has warned the central government to arrest the WFI chief by June 9, else they will hold panchayats across the country in support of the grapplers. Tikait added that if the demands of the wrestlers are not met within the stipulated time, they will march to Jantar Mantra in the national capital. The Delhi Police had earlier filed two FIRs against Singh, the first under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POSCO) Act and the second regarding outrage of modesty. Singh has denied all allegations against him and claimed that the protesting wrestlers are continuously changing their demands and language.
