Normal railway services have resumed in India’s eastern state of Odisha, where a triple-train crash claimed the lives of 275 people on Friday. According to the Ministry of Railways, both Up and Down Lines are now operational, and normal traffic movement has been restored. Over 1,100 people were injured in the crash – the worst such accident in India in the past decade – which saw two passenger trains collide with a stationary goods train in the Balasore district. Minister of Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw has personally overseen restoration works at the site of the accident, and a CBI investigation into the incident is now underway.
