Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw is set to visit the Baganaga Bazar station in Odisha’s Balasore district, where 292 people lost their lives in a train accident involving three trains on June 20. Vaishnaw, who arrived in the state on a three-day tour, will meet with local people and visit the Balasore District Hospital, where many of the injured were taken for treatment. The minister will inspect ongoing development work at the Balasore railway station and review progress. On his visit, he will also attend the famous Rath Jatra of Puri. The tragic accident occurred when the Coromandel Express collided with a stationary goods train, causing the derailment of many coaches. A few of the coach cars fell onto the last few coaches of the Bengaluru-Howrah Express, which passed by at the same time. The minister’s visit aims to understand and evaluate the situation and the government’s efforts to provide relief to the affected people.
