RailTel, an Indian state-owned telecommunications enterprise, has received an order worth INR 294.37 Crores (approximately $39.5 million) from the Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation Limited (TASMAC). The contract would allow RailTel to oversee the end-to-end computerization and connectivity of TASMAC’s Core and Support functions for five years. RailTel will be the System Integrator responsible for application development, deployment, and design.
The project will be split into different modules, including Excise and TASMAC Integrated Supply Chain Management System, Track and Trace, Human Resource Management System, Financial, and Accounting Module. RailTel would also provide Data Centre and Data Recovery Centre infrastructure, including clustering for two-way disaster recovery operations with the state data centre.
As part of the contract, RailTel will also provide IT infrastructure and services for the Head Office, Senior Regional Manager Office, District Manager Office, Depots, and Retail Vending Shops in Tamil Nadu. The project includes Data Digitization, Master Data Creation and Migration of Historic data, deployment of Help Desk, and operating, maintaining, and managing the whole hardware and software System for five years.

RailTel is responsible for modernizing Indian Railways’ network infrastructure from optical fibre network expansion to Wi-Fi and e-office solutions.
