Rahul Gandhi to Give Dignified and Honest Reply to EC Notice, Asserts NCP MP Supriya Sule
Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule expressed her confidence that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi would provide a fitting response to the Election Commission’s notice regarding his alleged derogatory remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Sule described Gandhi as a fighter and praised his honesty, stating that his fearless nature stems from his integrity. She also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for their past comments about Gandhi’s family. The Election Commission had issued a show cause notice to Gandhi based on a complaint filed by the BJP. The notice stated that Gandhi’s comments comparing the Prime Minister to a Jaibkatra (pickpocket) and using the word Pannauti were unbecoming of a senior leader. It further alleged violations of various legal provisions. The BJP called for appropriate action against Gandhi, claiming that his remarks would deteriorate the electoral environment by defaming respectable individuals and spreading false news. The Election Commission has requested Gandhi to explain why action should not be taken against him and has set a deadline of November 25, 2023, for his response.
