Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has made a major announcement in Telangana, as he gears up for the upcoming elections in the state. During a public meeting in Khammam, Gandhi unveiled the ‘Cheyutha’ scheme, which promises a monthly pension of Rs 4,000 for the elderly, single women, widows, and the differently-abled if Congress comes to power. Telangana is set to hold elections later this year, and the Congress party is leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to attract voters.

Gandhi took a dig at the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), proposing a new name for the party – the BJP Rishtedar Samiti – drawing a comparison between the BRS and the BJP government at the national level. He criticized BRS chief and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao for allegedly shattering the dreams of farmers, laborers, and the oppressed in the state.

The Congress leader also highlighted alleged corruption and land appropriation by the BRS, pledging to return the land to its rightful owners if his party comes to power. Additionally, he promised to provide Podu land to tribals, extend the scheme to include handloom workers, beedi workers, AIDS survivors, Filaria and Dialysis patients, and ensure land rights for adivasis.

Gandhi accused the BRS of aligning with the BJP and dubbed them the BJP’s B team, claiming that the TRS had supported the controversial Farmers Bill in Parliament. He vowed to defeat the BJP’s B team in Telangana, just as they had done in Karnataka.

During the public meeting, Gandhi emphasized the Congress party’s commitment to uniting the country and its opposition to hatred and violence. He expressed gratitude for the support received from the people of Khammam, stating that Congress is deeply rooted in their hearts and blood.

The Khammam public meeting followed a meeting of Telangana Congress leaders, which was attended by Congress Chief Malliakarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi, at the All India Congress Committee office in New Delhi. The meeting discussed poll preparedness in Telangana, ahead of the elections later this year.
