Queensland Awards EQ Resources Tender for Wolfram Camp and Bamford Hill Mines Exploration

The Queensland government has recently granted the resource exploration tender to EQ Resources, a leading tungsten producer, for the historic Wolfram Camp and Bamford Hill mines. Spanning across a 480 km area located 90km west of Cairns, this permit marks a significant step in the state government’s Critical Minerals Strategy and the Queensland Resources Industry Development Plan.

Aiming to transform former mines into valuable assets, the re-commercialization of Wolfram Camp is central to Queensland’s vision. By revitalizing these sites, the government hopes to create job opportunities and generate royalties for the people of Queensland. Resources Minister Scott Stewart praised EQ Resources for their track record in reinvigorating former mines, citing their success at the nearby Mt Carbine tungsten project that has created up to 135 jobs.

The Queensland Critical Mineral Strategy, releasing an investment of A$245 million into the sector, aligns with the global need for renewable energy technologies and a net-zero emissions future. The strategy will support companies like EQ Resources in extracting critical minerals from waste and tailings at existing and former mines. This endeavor not only fosters regional growth but also drives Queensland’s leadership in achieving a decarbonized world.

EQ Resources expressed their enthusiasm for the acquisition of Wolfram Camp, citing its alignment with their growth strategy. They plan to leverage their expertise from the revitalized Mt Carbine site and are committed to collaborating with the local community to foster shared prosperity, economic contribution, and environmental sustainability.

By employing modern exploration techniques and state-of-the-art technologies, EQ Resources aims to unlock the full potential of Wolfram Camp as a critical mineral producer while minimizing the environmental impact. Their success at Mt Carbine is a testament to their ability to transform historical mining sites into thriving operations that benefit both the environment and surrounding communities.

The awarding of the tender to EQ Resources signifies a significant milestone for both the company and the Queensland government. As they embark on this new project, all eyes are on the potential for economic growth, job creation, and sustainable resource development.
