Negotiation, only way to end Palestinian issue: Sheikh Mohammed

Coming to the table and negotiation is the only way to end the conflict between Israel and Palestine, according to HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Sheikh Mohammed emphasized this point during the ongoing Doha Forum, stating that historically, wars and conflicts have never achieved their results on the battlefield.

The Prime Minister made these remarks at the opening panel discussion of the Doha Forum, titled What Now for the Middle East? Moderated by Becky Anderson from CNN, the discussion centered around finding solutions for the Palestinian issue.

Sheikh Mohammed outlined the efforts Qatar has been making under the guidance of His Highness the Amir to secure the safe release of hostages through negotiations, which have yielded successful results. He emphasized that these efforts, in partnership with others, continue in Gaza, and Qatar remains committed.

Addressing the long-standing peace plans between the region and Israel, Sheikh Mohammed expressed disappointment at the lack of seriousness from the Israeli side. He noted that peace proposals have been consistently ignored, leading to multiple rounds of war and the destruction of Gaza. As an occupying power, Israel has not fulfilled its responsibility for peace, according to the prime minister.

Sheikh Mohammed stressed the importance of recognizing Gaza and the West Bank as one united state governed by a single body. Establishing this as the outcome of the Palestinian agreement is crucial. He also highlighted the region’s commitment to supporting Palestine financially for reconstruction and reiterated that violence is not a solution to any crisis.

Our role is to make sure that the Palestinian people live in peace and prosperity. We are countries for peace, and we never call for war or violence as a solution for any problem, Sheikh Mohammed stated firmly.

The Prime Minister’s call for negotiation and peace resonates with the ongoing efforts to find a lasting solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. With the support of international partners, there is hope that a mutually agreeable resolution can be achieved, bringing peace and stability to the region.

The Doha Forum serves as a platform for discussion and dialogue, bringing together key stakeholders to address pressing regional and global issues. As the conference continues, participants will delve deeper into finding viable solutions for the challenges faced in the Middle East.

In conclusion, HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim al-Thani’s reaffirmation that negotiation is the only way to end the conflict between Israel and Palestine reinforces the importance of diplomatic efforts and dialogue. As the region remains committed to the cause of peace, there is optimism that a just and sustainable resolution can be achieved through peaceful negotiations.
