The Punjabi community in Neemuch/Manasa, Madhya Pradesh, has staged a protest outside the local police station, demanding the registration of a counter case. The community claims that the allegation of rape against Kailash Dua, a saree trader, is baseless and that the police arrested him without conducting a proper investigation.

According to the Punjabi community, the Manasa police took one-sided action and immediately arrested Dua, sending him to jail. They criticized the police for not conducting a medical examination of the complainant on the same day of the arrest and only doing so after her statement in court.

The Punjabi community alleges that the woman who accused Dua is part of a three-woman gang from Bhilwara who visits Manasa to buy clothes. They believe that the gang staged the whole incident as an attempt to extort money from local businessmen but failed in their scheme.

In response to the community’s protest, the police have registered a counter case against the woman and others under Section 384 (extortion). The traders union from Manasa has also voiced their concerns to SP Amit Tolani, alleging that the case might be a honeytrap, and they demand a thorough investigation and appropriate action against those involved in the conspiracy.

The events leading up to the protest started when Kailash Dua, a cloth merchant, arrived at his shop in Manasa at 9:30 am on Thursday. A woman from Bhilwara visited his shop, went upstairs under the pretense of buying a saree, and later filed a rape complaint at the police station. The police, without conducting any preliminary investigation, charged Dua under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code.

The following day, a person claiming to be the complainant’s lawyer offered an out-of-court settlement if Dua and his family paid him Rs 2 lakh. Dua and his family rejected the proposal. In return, the woman agreed to make a statement supporting the businessman and provided a written letter to his relatives.

The Manasa Traders Association expressed their anger over the unilateral action taken by the police in charging Dua under Section 376. They suspect foul play and believe it might be a case of honeytrap. Dua filed an application with the police officer, stating that he was being falsely implicated as part of a conspiracy. The police are currently considering the matter.

The dispute between the Punjabi community and the police highlights the need for a fair and thorough investigation to ensure justice for all parties involved. It is crucial to maintain a balanced perspective and consider different viewpoints throughout the investigation to determine the truth of the matter. With the registration of the counter case and the demands for a comprehensive inquiry, it is hoped that a fair and unbiased resolution will be reached in due course.
