Punjab Police to help commuters get real-time traffic updates via Mapmyindia’s Mappls app
In a significant move aimed at modernizing traffic management and enhancing road safety, the Punjab Police has partnered with MapmyIndia’s Mappls app. This indigenous app, developed exclusively for India, is set to provide real-time traffic updates and safety alerts to commuters across the state.
The collaboration extends to the Sadak Surkhya Force (SSF), a specialized police team dedicated to road safety and skilled in pursuing criminals. To usher in a new era of traffic management through cutting-edge technology, MapmyIndia’s Mappls team conducted a comprehensive training program for SSF personnel at Kapurthala.
ADGP (Traffic) Amardeep Singh Rai expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, The partnership with MapmyIndia represents a significant step forward in our efforts to streamline traffic management across Punjab and prioritize the safety of citizens. We are excited to provide real-time information and encourage public participation to create safer and more efficient roadways.
MapmyIndia’s Mappls app is known for its highly detailed digital maps, navigation information, advisories, and planning. It will be available free of charge to citizens, aiming to keep commuters informed about daily traffic advisories, including events such as processions, protests, rallies, VIP movements, road closures, and diversions.
The app’s key features include vital road safety information, addressing concerns such as black spots, dangerous turns, updated speed limits, and accident-prone zones.
Rohan Verma, CEO of MapmyIndia, emphasized the app’s integration with Punjab Traffic Police, stating, Mappls’ integration of advisories and planning with Punjab Traffic Police underlines our commitment to enhancing the lives of Indians through technology rooted in our country.
Commuters are encouraged to actively participate in the initiative by providing feedback and real-time alerts, fostering a collaborative effort for improved traffic management, road safety, and efficient emergency services delivery.
The app will also assist users in identifying nearby government service facilities on the map, enabling them to generate route options with estimated arrival times and distances between selected locations. The inclusion of point-of-interest (POI) navigation further enhances the user experience.
Furthermore, this collaboration extends to ambulance operators in the state, facilitating the sharing of real-time information on ambulance positions through the Mappls app. This initiative aims to bolster emergency response and the services provided to the public.
With the Punjab Police and MapmyIndia’s joint efforts, commuters can now access real-time traffic updates and safety alerts through the user-friendly Mappls app. The integration of advanced technology into government systems marks a significant milestone in enhancing traffic management and promoting road safety in Punjab.
As citizens actively engage with the app and contribute their feedback, the partnership aims to create safer roadways and ensure more efficient emergency services delivery. With a focus on public participation and the latest in digital mapping technology, Punjab’s commuters can expect a smoother and safer journey on the roads.
