Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has launched a dedicated Road Safety Force to counteract the increasing number of fatalities from road accidents in the state. The force will be responsible for curbing dangerous driving practices, implementing safe driving rules, and improving road discipline. With an average of 14 lives lost each day due to accidents on the road, the Chief Minister has emphasized the significance of education and training to prevent accidents and establish a culture of road safety.

At the dedication ceremony of the Regional Driving Training Centre in Amargarh, CM Bhagwant Mann proclaimed his dedication to serving the people of Punjab, stating that accepting even a single rupee from the public is akin to consuming poison for him. He stressed the need for a sincere, transparent, and responsive government that prioritizes the welfare of its citizens. Criticizing opposition parties for their dishonesty, the Chief Minister assured them that their actions would be held accountable, and every penny they have taken from the state would be recovered.

In addition to the road safety initiatives, CM Bhagwant Mann has announced the state government’s plan to double the utilization of canal water for irrigation purposes by next year and its intention to purchase the Goindwal Thermal Power Plant, marking the first time the state government will acquire a private plant. The Chief Minister also emphasized the consolidation of three departments to optimize canal water utilization, with a goal of increasing irrigation water usage from the current 30% to 70% by next year.

The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of the Sarkar Tuhaade Dwaar (Government at Your Doorstep) program, aimed at resolving public issues and assessing the performance of government officials. Through the program, Cabinet Ministers and officers, including Deputy Commissioners, are encouraged to visit villages and engage with the people to gain a better understanding of their needs for effective governance.

During the event, CM Bhagwant Mann revealed the government’s plans for a new bypass in Amargarh estimated to cost Rs. 45 crore.
