The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has submitted a proposal for the construction of a water network in Lohegaon and Wagholi worth Rs230 crores. This move comes after residents of these merged areas complained of water scarcity and even approached the High Court for a solution.
Wadgaon Sheri MLA Sunil Tingre expressed satisfaction with the proposal, stating that he had previously staged protests in front of the PMC headquarters regarding various issues in his assembly constituency. The municipal commissioner had promised to resolve these issues, and now the administration has come up with a proposal in response to Tingre’s demand.
The proposal has been submitted to the estimates’ committee and a tender will be floated soon. Tingre expects the standing committee to approve the proposal after scrutiny, and work will commence shortly after.
According to a civic official who remained unnamed, the administration submitted the proposal to address the water crisis in Lohegaon and Wagholi. Pune district guardian minister Chandrakant Patil recently instructed the civic administration to resolve the water shortage faced by the merged villages.
The PMC’s proposed water network is expected to resolve the water scarcity issue in these areas, bringing relief to residents who have struggled with this problem for a long time. With the standing committee’s approval and the project’s subsequent implementation, it is hoped that the water network will be completed soon enough to address the ongoing shortages.
