Hundreds of computer teachers and computer lab assistants in Karnal, Haryana, took to the streets to protest for better wages and benefits. The demonstrators, led by Karamjit Sandhu, State President of the Computer Lab Assistant Welfare Association, and Balram Dhiman, State President of the Computer Teachers Welfare Association, initially gathered at Karna Park and marched towards the Chief Minister’s residence at Prem Nagar. However, their progress was thwarted by the police who had set up barricades to stop their advancement. Despite the setback, the protesters managed to present a memorandum of their demands to City Magistrate Aman Kumar. In response, the City Magistrate assured them of a meeting with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on January 25. Following this assurance, the protesters decided to end their dharna.

The protest aimed to address several issues faced by computer teachers and lab assistants. They demanded a salary hike, payment for summer and winter vacations, and the approval of medical allowance files, among other things. The labor force believed that their contribution warranted fair and improved compensation and benefits.

Karnal witnessed a spirited demonstration as the computer teachers and lab assistants voiced their concerns and sought the attention of the authorities. Teachers hold a significant role in shaping the future generations, and their efforts contribute to the overall development of the education system. The protest highlighted the challenges faced by computer teachers and lab assistants and aimed to bring about positive changes in their working conditions.

The City Magistrate’s assurance of a meeting with the Chief Minister offers hope that the demands of the protesters will be heard and possibly acted upon. The scheduled meeting on January 25 presents an opportunity for a fruitful dialogue between the government and the representatives of the computer teachers and lab assistants.

The protest not only sheds light on the specific grievances of computer teachers and lab assistants in Karnal but also emphasizes the importance of recognizing the vital roles played by such professionals throughout the education system. Ultimately, it is essential to ensure fair working conditions, wages, and benefits for these educators who play a crucial role in shaping the future of the nation.

As the protest comes to an end, all eyes are now on the upcoming meeting between the Chief Minister and the representative associations. The outcome of this meeting will determine the progress towards addressing the concerns raised by the computer teachers and lab assistants. The hope is that their demands for better wages and benefits will be considered and appropriate action taken to improve their working conditions.
