South Africa’s women’s cricket team, the Proteas, is set to embark on its first-ever tour to Pakistan from September 1 to 14, 2023, according to Cricket South Africa (CSA). The tour includes three T20 Internationals (T20I) and three One-Day Internationals (ODI) and will take place at the National Stadium in Karachi. The series marks the Proteas’ first assignment since their remarkable showing in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which was held in South Africa. The ODI matches will also count towards the ICC Women’s Championship (IWC) 2022-25 campaign and contribute to the pathway to the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025. Pholetsi Moseki, the CEO of Cricket SA, said the six matches will establish the Proteas Women’s team among the world’s elite. Success during this tour will contribute to a seamless journey towards the upcoming tours and the ICC Women’s T20 and 50-over World Cups, scheduled to take place within the next two years, he added. South Africa has historically had the upper hand over Pakistan in head-to-head encounters, boasting a 76% win rate in the ODI format, with 19 victories in 24 matches. The T20I format has shown a tighter competition, with South Africa recording 11 wins and seven defeats against their hosts.
