Prominent HCL Founder Launches Aspire Scholarship for Engineers
Padma Bhushan awardee, Dr. Ajai Chowdhry, the founder of HCL, has recently announced the launch of the Aspire Scholarship. The scholarship, funded through his family trust, the Swayam charitable trust, aims to support aspiring engineers who face financial obstacles in their pursuit of higher education.
With a budget of Rs 100 million spread over three years, the trust has committed to empowering up to 84 scholars by providing comprehensive financial assistance throughout the duration of their program. Unlike conventional scholarships that only cover tuition fees, the Aspire Scholarship goes further by including hostel and mess fees for selected students.
Dr. Ajai Chowdhry expressed his vision for the scholarship, saying, Aspire is not just a scholarship but a beacon of hope that ignites the spark of greatness within these aspiring engineers, enabling them to transform the world with their brilliance and astuteness. This scholarship aims to assist aspiring engineers in participating in India’s growth story. We have the youngest population in the world today. If we don’t make the most of the talent we have, we will be left far behind in this race for technological supremacy. The Aspire Scholarship is an effort to do our bit and give back to the society that has helped individuals like me think big and achieve my dreams.
The Aspire Scholarship will be available to students from ten prestigious engineering institutes in India, including the IIT institutes in Kharagpur, Hyderabad, Patna, Delhi, Bombay, and Goa, as well as the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology Delhi, Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee International Institute of Information Technology Naya Raipur, Jabalpur Engineering College, and National Institute of Advanced Manufacturing Technology Ranchi. The scholarship program will commence with the 2023-24 B.Tech batch.
The Swayam charitable trust, along with its management, will meticulously select 28 outstanding scholars annually from the first-year B.Tech batches across the ten aforementioned institutes.
