Around 500 students of Chaudhary Devi Lal University in Sirsa have accused a professor of sexual exploitation, sparking an investigation by a special investigation team (SIT). The students have written letters to the Haryana chief minister, governor, and the women’s commission detailing the alleged misconduct. This is not the first time the professor has faced such accusations, as it is the fourth letter against him. Previous internal investigations conducted by the university’s complaints committee cleared the professor twice of any wrongdoing.
A preliminary investigation will be conducted by the authorities, and based on the findings, an FIR (First Information Report) will be registered. The accused professor has denied the allegations and claimed they are politically motivated, asserting that he is ready to face any probe against him.
Interestingly, all four letters accusing the professor of sexual misconduct were posted from the same Khairpur post office on Hisar Road, according to sources within the university. The first letter was initially sent to the university’s Vice Chancellor back in June of last year, but no evidence was found to substantiate the claims at that time.
The students’ allegations have gained attention on social media, prompting the formation of an SIT to investigate the matter thoroughly. Authorities are committed to taking appropriate action after conducting a comprehensive inquiry.
Sexual harassment remains a pervasive issue in educational institutions, and it is crucial for the students’ voices to be heard and for due process to take place. The investigation will shed light on the truth behind these allegations, ensuring justice is served for the victims, if the claims are proven to be true.
