Pro-Palestinian Protests Erupt Outside White House Amid Escalating Hamas Assault on Israel
A surge of pro-Palestinian demonstrators gathered outside the White House on Sunday, amplifying their voices a day after Hamas initiated a deadly assault on Israel. In Washington, D.C., a pro-Palestine rally unfolded outside the White House, where numerous speakers referred to Hamas’s attack on Israel as a revolution. Early Saturday, Hamas launched this attack, resulting in an estimated 600 Israeli casualties and leaving over 2,000 wounded. In response, Israel launched a counterattack on Gaza and Hamas structures, claiming the lives of 313 Palestinians and causing 1,990 injuries. Israel’s formal declaration of war against Hamas marks the nation’s first such declaration since 1973.
Tragically, four United States citizens have reportedly lost their lives, with an additional seven individuals missing or unaccounted for, according to a U.S. official cited by the Associated Press. While several Democratic and Republican lawmakers have expressed support for Israel’s military defense, Democratic officials and allies have called for peace on both sides and an end to what they perceive as the occupation of Israel.
The wave of pro-Palestine protests has also extended to New York City, where similar demonstrations have taken place.
