Private Detective’s Identity Exposed: Woman Confronts Stalker Employed by Estranged Husband

COIMBATORE: In a shocking turn of events, a recently hired private detective lost his cover and found himself on the wrong side of the law when he was caught tailing a woman who had separated from her husband. The 20-year-old detective named Sarankumar from Pachapalayam was apprehended by the police, along with his boss R Siva Prakasam (72) of Athipalayam. The woman’s husband, who had commissioned the detectives, was also booked in the case.

The 32-year-old woman, employed as a sales executive in a private firm at Saibaba Colony, resides in Kurichi near Sundarapuram. After separating from her 42-year-old husband a few years ago, she has been living with her son at her parent’s house. Recently, she decided to take legal action against her husband and filed a case in the family court in Coimbatore.

The woman’s ordeal began on Thursday morning while she was commuting to work on her two-wheeler. She noticed Sarankumar persistently following her and taking photographs of her. Initially, she ignored his suspicious behavior, but as he continued to tail her all the way to her office, she decided to take action. With the assistance of the public, she succeeded in apprehending Sarankumar red-handed. It was during this confrontation that she discovered he had been monitoring her activities for several days on behalf of their client, Siva Prakasam, who was carrying out the assignment at her husband’s request.

The woman wasted no time in approaching the Saibaba Colony police to file a complaint against the three individuals involved, including her husband. Upon investigation, the police registered a case against them under sections 120 (B) (criminal conspiracy), 354 (D) (Stalking) of IPC, and section 4 (Harassment of woman) of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Woman Act.

Legal experts, while shedding light on the incident, highlighted the absence of a clear regulatory framework for detective agencies in the country. The introduction of the Private Detective Regulation Bill in 2007 aimed to address this gap by criminalizing the violation of an individual’s fundamental Right to Privacy. However, the bill eventually lapsed in Parliament. Currently, there are no specific laws governing the functioning of detective agencies, leaving room for potential misuse and unlawful activities.

This disconcerting incident serves as a reminder of the lack of oversight and regulations surrounding private detective agencies. With no fixed guidelines in place, it becomes imperative for authorities to address this issue promptly, ensuring the privacy and safety of individuals are protected. Meanwhile, the affected woman can only hope that justice will be served swiftly, and her disturbing encounter acts as a catalyst for change in the industry.
