Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Inaugurate BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Abu Dhabi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to embark on a two-day visit to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) starting Tuesday, as he prepares to inaugurate the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Abu Dhabi. This will be PM Modi’s seventh visit to the UAE since his initial trip in 2015.
The much-anticipated inauguration of the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) temple is scheduled for February 14. The sprawling temple complex boasts a visitors’ center, prayer halls, exhibitions, learning areas, and a sports area for children and youth.
BAPS emphasizes that the temple is designed to serve as a place of harmony, welcoming individuals of all faiths to experience and understand Hindu culture and spirituality. The temple will open its doors to the public on March 1. However, devotees intending to visit the magnificent temple must adhere to a specific dress code in order to ensure a hassle-free entry and prayer experience.
According to BAPS, all visitors and worshippers at the BAPS Hindu Mandir must don appropriate attire that reflects respect for the place of worship. The guidelines for the dress code are as follows:
Understanding the significance of this project, the UAE government allocated land for the construction of a Hindu mandir back in 2015. Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly expressed his gratitude during his visit to Abu Dhabi, stating, I am very thankful to the UAE Govt for their decision to allot land in order to build a mandir in Abu Dhabi. This is a great step.
The assignment of constructing, developing, and administering the mandir project was entrusted to BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha and Mandir Limited by both the Indian and UAE governments.
