New Delhi, January 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has hailed the commencement of oil production from the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation’s (ONGC) flagship deep-sea project in the Krishna Godavari basin. PM Modi called it a remarkable step in India’s energy journey and a boost to the mission for an ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’ or self-reliant India.
Oil Minister Hardeep Singh Puri took to X to share the news, stating, As India powers ahead as the fastest-growing economy under the leadership of PM @NarendraModi Ji, our energy production is also set to rise from the deepest frontiers of #KrishnaGodavari. Puri further announced that the production from the complex and challenging deepwater KG-DWN-98/2 Block, located off the coast of the Bay of Bengal, is expected to yield 45,000 barrels of oil per day and over 10 million cubic meters of gas per day. This contribution will significantly enhance India’s energy sector.
