Dreamland in Margate is gearing up for an exciting weekend of live music as it welcomes Primal Scream and the Margate Soul Festival to its vintage fairground. From Friday, August 4 to Sunday, August 6, music enthusiasts will have the opportunity to witness captivating performances by renowned artists.
Fronted by founding member Bobby Gillespie, Primal Scream will take the stage on Saturday, August 5 as part of the Margate Summer Series. The outdoor Scenic Stage will serve as the backdrop for their electrifying performance. With a musical journey spanning over 35 years, Primal Scream is best known for iconic singles such as Movin’ On Up, Rocks, and Loaded. Their impressive discography includes seven Top 10 albums, including the widely acclaimed Screamadelica and Give Out But Don’t Give Up.
Joining Primal Scream at this remarkable concert is Happy Mondays, a Manchester-based band that rose to prominence in the 1980s. Part of Tony Wilson’s Factory Records, the group achieved great success alongside Joy Division and New Order. Their hits like Step On, Kinky Afro, and 24 Hour Party People have garnered two BRIT Award nominations and even secured them an Ivor Novello Award in 2016.
For those seeking a different musical experience, Dreamland will also host the Margate Soul Festival throughout the weekend. The festival will take place in various locations, including Dreamland’s indoor venues: the Ballroom and the Hall by the Sea, as well as along the picturesque harbour and the beach.
