President Bola Tinubu is set to swear in 45 ministers on Monday, announced the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume. The event will take place at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja and will commence at 10 am.

Each minister has been assigned specific portfolios, as revealed in a statement by the Director of Information in the Office of the SGF, Willie Bassey. The ministers are also permitted to bring two guests each.

Notable appointments include Nyesom Wike, the former governor of Rivers State, who has been assigned the position of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT). David Umahi, the former governor of Ebonyi State, will serve as Minister of Works, while Adegboyega Oyetola, the former governor of Osun State, has been designated as Minister of Transportation.

Economist Wale Edun, who previously served as an economic adviser, has been appointed as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy. Adebayo Adelabu will oversee the Ministry of Power as minister.

Contrary to expectations, Dele Alake, who served as the President’s spokesperson, has not been appointed Minister of Information and National Orientation. Instead, Muhammed Idris, a veteran journalist and publisher of Blueprint Newspapers, has been appointed to this position, with Alake assuming the role of Minister of Solid Minerals Development.

Other new ministries have been established, such as the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, which will be headed by Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, and the Ministry of Art, Culture, and the Creative Economy, to be led by Hannatu Musawa.

President Tinubu has also split the Ministry of Petroleum and Gas Resources into two separate entities. Heineken Lokpobiri will serve as Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, while Ekperipe Ekpo has been appointed Minister of State for Gas Resources.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Sports Development has been separated from the Ministry of Youth, with John Enoh and Abubakar Momoh respectively assigned to these positions.

The complete list of ministers and their portfolios can be found in the statement released by the SGF’s office.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Niger Delta does not have a designated minister, and the Ministry of Environment is currently without a substantive minister.

President Tinubu has also taken on the responsibility of Minister of Petroleum and Gas Resources, following in the footsteps of former President Muhammadu Buhari.

The swearing-in ceremony on Monday will mark the official commencement of these ministerial appointments, as President Tinubu works to form his administration and tackle the challenges facing Nigeria.
