President Bola Tinubu has instructed security agencies to rescue the remaining students who were abducted from the Federal University Gusau in Zamfara State. Gunmen suspected to be bandits stormed the institution in the early hours of Friday, kidnapping a significant number of students, mostly females, from their off-campus residences in Sabon Gida village.
Although the incident has been condemned by the president, who described it as reprehensible, efforts are underway to ensure the safe return of the abducted students. So far, six students have been rescued by troops of Operation Hadarin-Daji.
In a statement issued by the president’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, it was reaffirmed that the administration is committed to protecting every Nigerian citizen. The government will spare no effort in ensuring the safe return of the abducted students. Additionally, the president pledged to safeguard educational institutions as sanctuaries of knowledge, growth, and opportunity, free from the menacing acts of terrorists.
