President Droupadi Murmu of India will make an official visit to Suriname and Serbia from June 4 to 9, 2023, according to the Ministry of External Affairs. During her state visit to Suriname, she will attend the 150th anniversary celebrations of the arrival of Indians in the country. The visit highlights India’s warm and friendly relationships with Suriname, particularly the Indian diaspora that makes up over 27% of the country’s population. The President is expected to discuss trade and commerce, development, agriculture, and people-to-people ties between the two nations. She will also commemorate the Indian community’s history in Suriname and visit the sites associated with them. In Serbia, the President will explore opportunities for diplomatic cooperation and deepen India’s engagement with the country.
