ABERDEEN – A Dec. 15 event in Paradise Alley will transport attendees back to cherished Christmas memories while creating new ones. Titled Memory Lane, the occasion, running from 5 to 6:30 p.m., aims to preserve older holiday traditions and celebrate the heartwarming nostalgia of the season. Located behind Lann Hardware, Paradise Alley will come alive with various activities leading up to a community worship service.
As part of the event, the Aberdeen Visitors Bureau has exhibited a collection of historical photos from the early 1990s, sourced from the Aberdeen Examiner, showcasing neighborhood driving tours. These captivating visuals will be on display throughout the Christmas season.
In addition to the photo exhibition, attendees can look forward to a range of festivities. Luminaries will illuminate the alley, setting a magical atmosphere, while snowball fights and a craft station will add to the entertainment. The aroma of hot chocolate will fill the air, and children will have the chance to visit Santa Claus. The event organizers have also planned for snow and a glow station, where participants are encouraged to wear anything that lights up, blinks, or glows. At 6 p.m., Santa will lead a luminary walk in the company of those sporting their own illuminated accessories.
Tina Robbins, the Director of the Aberdeen Visitors Bureau, expressed the aim of the event, saying, When you hear adults talk about the excitement of what comes over them about Christmases they remember growing up, that’s what we want to celebrate through the photos. With the new events and heart of Christmas in Aberdeen, the goal is to make it a December to remember.
Following the festivities, Stevens Auction Company will host a non-denominational community worship service at 6:30 p.m. The service, emceed by Ben and Patricia Howell, will be held at the Stevens family of companies’ premises.
The Memory Lane event in Paradise Alley is a delightful opportunity for community members to reminisce about cherished Christmas memories while creating new ones. With its array of activities and the community worship service rounding off the evening, Aberdeen residents can look forward to experiencing the joy and magic of the holiday season.
