An invitation has been extended to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for the consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya. Ram Mandir Trustee Kameshwar Chaupal confirmed that an invitation letter has been sent to Kumar for the Pran Pratishtha ceremony, scheduled to take place on January 22. The trustee, however, urged citizens not to flock to Ayodhya on that day, as it would pose difficulties for security and management. Only those with invitations are requested to attend the ceremony.
Regarding the selection of the idol of Ram Lalla to be installed in the sanctum sanctorum, Chaupal stated that all three idols are exceptional, and it will be up to the Acharyas to decide which one will ultimately be installed. In addition to Kumar, invitations have been sent to opposition leaders, including Sonia Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge from the Congress party. According to sources, both have accepted the invite. However, there seems to be confusion among opposition ranks about attending the inauguration ceremony.
CPI (M) leader Sitaram Yechury announced on social media that he will not be attending the ceremony, citing the party’s policy of respecting religious beliefs and safeguarding individual rights. Yechury emphasized the need to prevent the instrumentalization of religion for political gain. The ceremony is a state-sponsored function that will be attended by the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh.
