Hamilton Academical Football Club is in the process of being taken over, according to chairman Colin McGowan. The SPFL club is reportedly on the verge of finalising the sale of its football side. In his statement, McGowan gave tribute to his fellow Accies chiefs who helped steer the team through a cyber fraud case, the COVID-19 pandemic, and Premiership relegation. He thanked them for the first trophy win in 30 years, bringing 10 years of Premiership football to New Douglas Park and developing an Elite Youth Academy that produced players including James McArthur, James McCarthy, and Brian Easton.
In McGowan’s statement, he thanked supporters and generous sponsors and wished the new owners the best of luck going forward. Hamilton was relegated to League One after losing to Airdrie in the play-offs last season.
