Portugal’s head coach, Roberto Martinez, has stated that Cristiano Ronaldo’s time in Saudi Arabia could benefit the national team’s players, as they prepare for their Euro 2024 Qualifier match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. Martinez expressed that Ronaldo can be an example for the team players, passing on valuable tips to the youngsters and inspiring them in the dressing room.
However, Martinez also stated that like any other player, Ronaldo needs to train well in order to play, and they need a high-performance environment with competition for their players. Ronaldo has played 198 matches for the national team, and his commitment is complete, making him an example for not just Portuguese football but the world.
Despite rumours suggesting that Ronaldo may leave Al Nassr after just one season, the 38-year-old striker seems to have adjusted well to the challenging circumstances and remains committed to the club. He has found the back of the net 14 times in 16 appearances for Al Nassr in Saudi Arabia, helping his team finish second in the Pro League.
Notably, in a recent interview, Ronaldo expressed his happiness and desire to continue playing for Al Nassr, claiming that if the club continues to work towards its goals, the Saudi league could be among the top-five leagues in the world within the next five years.
Ronaldo’s individual quality, experience, and commitment have played a significant role in shaping both his career and the teams he has played for. As he approaches the end of his career, his influence on the future generations of players can prove to be vital for the Portuguese national team.
