The final day movement of all polling officials for the North Cachar Hills (NC) Elections in Dima Hasao district, Assam, has been successfully completed. On Sunday, polling officials, including zonal magistrates, sector officials, presiding officials, and police officials, made their way to their assigned polling duties. This comes ahead of the scheduled polling for 22 constituencies on January 8.
The movement of officials was carried out in two phases. Yesterday, officials from 58 polling stations transitioned to their respective constituencies. Today, officials from 173 polling stations completed their final move. The constituencies include Borail, Jinam, Hangrum, Laisong, Wajao, Diyungbra, Garampani, Kharthong, Dihangi, Diger, Dihamlai, Semkhor, Haflong, Jatinga, Mahur, Daotuhaja, Kalachand, Langting, Hatikhali, Diyungbra, Garampani, Kharthong, Dehangi, Hadingma, Dihamlai, Lower Kharthong, and Dolong.
The elections for the 13th North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council will take place on January 8, with 6 out of the 28 constituencies already designated as uncontested. In case of a need for repolling, it has been scheduled for January 10, and the results will be declared on January 12. A total of 1,15,615 voters, comprising 57,602 males and 58,013 females, will exercise their franchise across 231 polling stations.
During the preparation, 15 highly sensitive polling stations, 36 sensitive polling stations, and 21 comparatively safe polling stations were identified. Notably, there are 16 polling stations that have been designated as all women’s polling stations, with both civil and police officials being women.
