Police Van Targeted in Hand Grenade Attack in Balochistan’s Naseerabad District
In a concerning incident, a police van was attacked with a hand grenade by unidentified assailants in Naseerabad district, Balochistan. Fortunately, no casualties were reported as the policemen inside the van escaped unharmed, although the vehicle suffered partial damage.
According to police officials, the attack took place in the Manjhoo Shori area of Naseerabad. The assailants threw the hand grenade at the van, which exploded near the vehicle, causing all its tires to burst. Following the attack, the attackers managed to flee the scene.
In response to this incident, heavy contingents of police and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) swiftly deployed in the area to ensure the safety of the surroundings. Investigations are currently ongoing, and authorities are determined to apprehend those responsible for these attacks on law enforcement personnel and their vehicles.
This is not the first targeted assault of its kind in the province. Just last month, unidentified individuals targeted the vehicle of a Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) in Kurram district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Fortunately, the DSP and six policemen managed to escape unharmed when two hand grenades were hurled at their vehicle in Kurram’s Sateen area.
Similarly, in August, another incident occurred in Naseerabad, where unidentified men threw a hand grenade at SSP Naseerabad Hussain Lehri’s squad in Dera Murad Jamali. Thankfully, no injuries were reported in that incident either.
The recent attack in Naseerabad highlights the growing concern over the safety of law enforcement personnel, particularly in Balochistan. It is imperative for the authorities to enhance security measures and ensure the safe operation of law enforcement agencies in the region.
