Two terrorists were reportedly killed in an encounter near the Line of Control (LoC) on Tuesday, as per the statement of the police. The incident took place in the Dobanar area of Machil, in Kupwara district of north Kashmir. Kashmir Zone police tweeted that the encounter was conducted in a joint operation by the police and army personnel.
As per the initial reports, two terrorists were neutralised and the search operation was still underway. The police and the army are yet to confirm the identities of the terrorists or any groups they belonged to.
Due to frequent terrorist infiltration from across the border, Jammu and Kashmir has been facing several security challenges over the years. The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir police have been conducting regular operations in the region to maintain law and order.
