BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. — Five suspects managed to escape from Brooklyn Park police after crashing a car they allegedly stole during a high-speed chase early Saturday morning. The incident unfolded when an officer noticed a black Hyundai exiting the Kensington Place apartments onto Zane Avenue North around 2:42 a.m. The officer attempted to pull over the driver, suspecting the vehicle to be stolen. However, the driver refused to comply and instead fled from the scene.
The chase ensued as police pursued the driver east on 85th Avenue North towards College Parkway. The driver attempted to evade capture by making a U-turn and heading west. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, the pursuit continued until the driver crashed the stolen car into a retaining boulder at the entrance of the apartment complex.
According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department (BPPD), the impact of the crash caused the suspects to abandon the vehicle and flee on foot. Despite an extensive search, the police were unable to locate and apprehend the suspects, who managed to disappear into the night.
During their investigation, the BPPD discovered that the stolen Hyundai had a broken window and exposed dashboard wires. Surprisingly, the vehicle had not been reported stolen prior to the incident.
We believe these individuals are connected to a larger criminal network operating in our area, stated Brooklyn Park Police Chief, John Reynolds. We are actively working to identify and apprehend these suspects, as well as uncover any other potential criminal activity they may be involved in.
Authorities are asking the public to remain vigilant and report any information regarding the identities or whereabouts of the suspects. Individuals with relevant details are encouraged to contact the Brooklyn Park Police Department immediately.
Residents of the Kensington Place apartments expressed their concern over the incident. It’s unsettling to know that criminals are lurking so close to home, said Mary Johnson, a resident of the complex. I hope the police catch them soon and put an end to their reckless behavior.
The Brooklyn Park Police Department is urging anyone with additional information related to the stolen vehicle or the suspects’ escape to come forward. As the investigation progresses, law enforcement officials are determined to bring the individuals responsible to justice and ensure the safety of the community.
This incident serves as a reminder for residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities promptly. The Brooklyn Park Police Department continues to work towards maintaining the peace and security of the community, but they also rely on the assistance and cooperation of its residents in achieving these goals.
