The Congress party has criticized Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ignoring the ongoing crisis in Manipur during his US state visit. Despite attending numerous meetings with scholars, authors, and investors in New York, Modi has totally and completely failed his duty as the Prime Minister of India by choosing to deliberately ignore Manipur in a time of crisis, according to Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh. The state has been suffering from pain, distress, and agony for the past 50 days, but the Prime Minister has made no comment or shown any indication that he cares or is concerned about the crisis. Even representatives of political parties from the violence-hit state were unable to secure an appointment with the Prime Minister. The Congress also accused Modi of focusing on improving his image by meeting with film writer Manoj Muntashir, who wrote obscene dialogues for the movie ‘Adipursh,’ without making any appointments for the Manipur leaders. Despite the criticism, Modi has remained silent on the issue, causing disappointment and hurt among the people of Manipur.
