In a recent speech, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a scathing attack on opposition party leaders, vowing to take on corruption. During a speech in Madhya Pradesh, PM Modi said, I will take every scamster to task, with his remarks coming shortly after an opposition meeting in Patna earlier this month. At that meeting, leaders from more than 15 Opposition parties vowed to take on the BJP in next year’s elections. In response, the PM said, All the corrupt politicians joined their hands in Patna’s meeting. He went on to state that the party booth workers will expose the corruption at a village level, ensuring people learn the real faces of the opposition. The PM also criticized a new word being heard in politics, guarantee, which he believes implies corruption and a lack of transparency. The Opposition meeting in Patna was called by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, who severed ties with the BJP to form an alliance with his political rival Lalu Prasad Yadav, paving the way for a ‘Mahagathbandhan 2.0’ ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. PM Modi’s speech was given in the lead-up to elections in Madhya Pradesh later this year.
