Indore, Madhya Pradesh – Western Railway is preparing to launch the eagerly awaited Vande Bharat Express, offering a seamless experience between Rani Kamalapati Junction (Bhopal) and Indore in Madhya Pradesh. This high-speed train’s maiden trip is scheduled for June 27, 2023, an important milestone in enhancing the passenger experience.
Public Relations Manager of Western Railway, Sumit Thakur, confirmed that the Vande Bharat Express’s inaugural journey would start on June 27 from Rani Kamalapati Station, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagging off the train. The train with number 02912 will make stops at Bhopal, Sehore, Shujalpur, Maksi and Ujjain before arriving at Indore Junction in the afternoon.
The Indore Bhopal Vande Bharat Superfast Express will start its daily operation from June 28, 2023, except on Sundays. Departing from Indore at 6:30 am with number 20911, it will arrive in Bhopal by 9:35 am. The return journey, train number 20912, will depart from Bhopal at 7:25 pm and reach Indore at 10:30 pm, with a stop at Ujjain in both directions. Passengers can book tickets starting on June 26, 2023, at PRS ticket offices and on the IRCTC website.
The Western Railway has organized several events to make the inaugural journey unforgettable. Passengers will receive souvenir tickets, caps, and keyrings. Furthermore, 50 lucky students who participated in a drawing and painting contest at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Sehore will have the opportunity to ride on the Vande Bharat Express. Specially-designed water bottles and caps will be distributed to these students, along with entertainment activities like board games, including Ludo, to keep children occupied throughout the journey.
Passengers on the Vande Bharat Express can expect world-class facilities, including a state-of-the-art suspension system that ensures a smooth and safe ride. The train has reclining seats, passenger information and infotainment screens, CCTV cameras, sliding doors, custom reading lights, mobile charging stations, bio-toilets, automatic entry and exit doors and equipment for Divyangjan (specially-handicapped) passengers.
The Vande Bharat Express incorporates state-of-the-art safety measures, including the indigenous train collision avoidance system called KAVACH, which ensures low-cost implementation while prioritizing passenger safety. The train’s design emphasizes environmental sustainability by eliminating power cars and using an advanced regenerative braking system, which reduces electricity consumption by around 30%.
The train schedule consists of the Indore-Bhopal Vande Bharat train (Train No. 20911) leaving the city at 6:30 am and the Bhopal-Indore Vande Bharat train (train number 20912) departing Bhopal at 7:25 pm.
