Prime Minister Modi Calls for Women’s Empowerment and Youth Participation in Legislative Bodies
New Delhi – Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the All India Presiding Officers’ Conference on Saturday, emphasizing the importance of women’s empowerment and youth participation in legislative bodies. He urged for discussions on increasing the representation of women and youth to shape the country’s goals.
Referring to the ‘Narishakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ approved by Parliament last year, PM Modi highlighted the need for further deliberations on women’s empowerment to enhance representation. He also stressed that a young country like India should prioritize increasing youth participation in legislative bodies.
Underlining the significance of states and state assemblies in shaping national goals, PM Modi urged for strong coordination between legislative bodies and executives. He emphasized that the efforts of legislative bodies would determine the progress of the states and their contribution to economic development.
The Prime Minister noted that over the past decade, the central government has eliminated more than 2,000 insignificant laws, streamlining the justice system and facilitating an ease of living for citizens.
The 83rd All India Presiding Officers’ Conference (AIPOC), the largest gathering of the country’s legislative bodies’ presiding officers, is taking place in Maharashtra on January 27 and 28. With around 250 delegates attending, including Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Rajya Sabha Vice-Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh, the conference aims to address various matters pertaining to the smooth functioning of legislative and executive bodies.
PM Modi’s call for women’s empowerment and greater youth participation reflects his vision for a more inclusive and dynamic political landscape. As the conference continues, participants will explore strategies to ensure better representation, upliftment, and engagement of women and youth in legislative frameworks.
With India’s burgeoning youth population and the need for diverse voices in decision-making processes, PM Modi’s emphasis on these issues highlights the government’s commitment to fostering a vibrant democracy that caters to the aspirations of all its citizens.
The conference serves as an opportunity for lawmakers to exchange ideas and collaboratively work towards creating legislation that promotes the country’s progress. By prioritizing women’s empowerment and youth involvement, India can leverage its demographic advantage and harness the potential of its people to achieve sustainable development and inclusive growth.
As the All India Presiding Officers’ Conference gathers momentum, discussions surrounding women’s empowerment and youth participation are expected to shape the vision for a more prosperous and equitable India. The outcomes of these deliberations have the potential to shape policies that promote social, economic, and political transformation, fostering a brighter future for all Indians.
