Jaipur: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are set to attend the three-day All India Conference of Director Generals/Inspector Generals of Police (DGP-IGP) in Jaipur from January 5 to 7. The conference, held at the Rajasthan International Centre, will focus on various crucial issues related to policing and internal security, including cybercrime, counter-terrorism challenges, left-wing extremism, and prison reforms. Additionally, the conference will discuss the implementation of new criminal laws and explore futuristic themes in policing and security. The gathering aims to identify actionable points and monitor their progress.
The conference serves as a platform for police and intelligence officers from different levels to exchange ideas and share best practices. Presentations on successful initiatives from states and union territories will contribute to mutual learning and improvement. In an effort to encourage open dialogue, the conference will also feature free-flowing thematic discussions during meal times, allowing senior police officials to directly engage with the Prime Minister on key issues affecting the country’s policing and internal security.
In addition to Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Shah, notable attendees include National Security Advisor Ajit Dobhal, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, the Cabinet Secretary, senior officials from the Government of India, as well as DGP of States/UTs and Heads of Central Armed Police Forces and Central Police Organizations.
This annual conference has been held across various locations in the past, including Guwahati, Dhordo in the Rann of Kutch, Hyderabad, Tekanpur, Kevadiya, Pune, Lucknow, and Delhi. Following this tradition, Jaipur has been chosen as the host city this year.
During his visit, PM Modi is also expected to visit the BJP state office, where he will interact with party office bearers, Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, ministers, and MLAs. This visit will mark his first appearance at the BJP state office as Prime Minister.
